Just so you know where I'm coming from today I'm writing my first blog post ever. I made a decision to achieve this goal today, which is to write and post a blog. this is actually a little goal or an action step towards my Big Goal. So what is a big goal?
A big goal is a Dream. it's a fantasy. It's something you have never done and have no idea how you can achieve it. It's something so fantastic you fall in love with the idea of it. It's something you think about morning, noon, and night. something that makes you more alive.
remember when you first fell in love? it's like that. that other person brought things out of you that you didn't even know were there and that's what your goal will do for you.
Why don't most people feel this way? because, what they thought was a goal wasn't what they really wanted. Or maybe they have never even thought about a goal. Having no goal is like going on a trip with no destination. you get to the end of your driveway. which way do you turn?
there are 3 types of goals. We will call them A, B, & C type goals
A) this is what a lot of people consider a goal
(it's doing something you already know how to do)
I'm not saying that you shouldn't do those things but there not really a goal there a task
or a step towards you goal.
there is absolutely no growth no stretching to reach it.
B) usually when someone leaves an A type goal they end up here at a B type goal
( it's something they think they can do}
they sit down and gather all the information they have all the resources they have. and
make a plan. It may be a beautiful plan, and if all these things happen you can
accomplish this goal.
You know there is no inspiration in going after something like that. most people get
bored and give up.
C) This is what a real goal is. it's the one you fall in love with
( It's a want. what you really want. it's a fantasy.)
why don't we set goals like this? we have been programed to believe that fantasy is only
for little children.
We tend to reject our fantasy before we even give it a second thought.
What I want you to do is sit down and relax think about your dream life how would you like to be living? How would it feel to have the relationship of your dreams? what would you spend your day doing? What is your fantasy life.
in your fantasy you don't consider money or resources they are not a concern.
Just decide what you want.
you must start where your finishing. Most people spend their entire life barely achieving tiny little goals. use your imagination go where you have never been. everything around you is created twice. Once in the mind, then in the physical world.
Think about this. As you go through life you don't just pick up things you like doing by chance. You discovered what you're good at because you were meant to discover it. Just like you were meant to figure out what your fingers do and, how your elbows work. Your unique gifts are hard wired into your system just as surely as your lungs are given their blueprint to breathe.
start here. you have to dig down deep and think about what your purpose is. what are you innately good at. things that have been percolating in your body since you were in kindergarten. stuff you may not have recognized because it came so easily to you.
A real goals purpose is to make you grow to become more alive. To draw something out of yourself you didn't know was there.
Set a Goal
Write it on a Goal Card.
in one sentence that brings it's image to your mind. make it in the present tense.
and be grateful for it as if it already is.
read your card in the morning,
several times during the day, and before bed.
and watch how you grow to become worthy of that goal.
It will happen.
and then you can set a bigger goal.
